More...As the U.S. military withdraws its forces from Iraq, the families of more than 4,000 fallen American soldiers cope with another holiday season without their loved ones. Robert Stokely, the father of a fallen soldier, wanted to bring a sense of closure to his loss by visiting the location in Iraq where his son was killed. His son, US Army Sgt. Mike Stokely, was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack on August 16, 2005 while serving in the Georgia National Guard.
Representative Matt Ramsey from Peachtree City has a bill before the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee to raise your taxes. He is asking that Georgia Consumers be charged a sales tax for purchasing items through Amazon.com and similar affiliate programs if that affiliate is located in the state of Georgia. His reasoning for doing this? To offer a tax holiday at the brick and mortar stores in Georgia. He claims it will raise about $18,000,000 in revenue for the state so that a tax holiday can be given to Georgians.

Tell the politicians that you don't want a trolley, who is going to pay for the drivers of the trolley? You guessed it, the property tax payer. Scott Bradley, a candidate for the United States Senate in 2006 and 2010, holds a Ph.D. in Constitutional Law. He is the founder and chairman of the Constitution Commemoration Foundation, Inc., and is the author of a book and DVD/CD lecture series entitled To Preserve the Nation.
"Toward the preservation of your Government and the permanency of your present happy state, it is requisite . . . that you resist with care the spirit of innovation upon its principles, however specious the pretexts. One method of assault may be to effect in the forms of the Constitution alterations which will impair the energy of the system, and thus to undermine what can not be directly overthrown . . . Liberty itself will find in such a government, with powers properly distributed and adjusted, its surest guardian." (Messages and Papers of the Presidents, George Washington, vol. 1, 210)
"In tendering this homage to the great Author of every public and private good . . . No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the affairs of men, more than the people of the United States. Every step, by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation, seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency." (Messages and Papers of the Presidents, George Washington, "First Inaugural" Address, vol. 1, 44-45)
The Republican Party has a tenuous hold on the conservative movement in America. At present the only home for the 40 per cent of the electorate that identify themselves as conservative is the Republican Party, but it appears that those who are nominally identified as the "Republican Establishment" are doing all they can to alienate the vast majority of the current base of the Party.
