Coweta SPLOST - Vote 'No' March 6th

Written by

Find out 'Why SPLOST is a Liberal Ideal' at the end of my article.

Our local Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce has been handing out 'Talking Points' cards in favor of the upcoming SPLOST vote scheduled for Tuesday, March 6th. We have answered their talking points and would encourage everyone to download the answers and send them to everyone on your email list. It is important that we counter act this material that is getting distributed by this pro-tax organization. The Chamber of Commerce has supported every single SPLOST that has come up for vote in Coweta County including ESPLOST, SPLOST and the upcoming TIA otherwise known as TSPLOST.

Watch and learn why you should vote 'NO' on March 6th against the Coweta County SPLOST for 2013 - 2019. Also hear Senator Mike Crane's explanation for why he is supporting a bill to Call for a Constitutional Convention.

SPLOST does not equal Fairtax

Official Statement On This Issue from Jim Duffie, State Director of 'Georgians for FairTax'

"The comparison is apples to oranges – the FairTax is a national program and is comprehensive in tax restructuring. The Splost – with whatever letter it begins with – is just an add-on sales tax, with no redeeming economic factors. The State of Georgia needs true tax reform – a state fairtax program – which would provide economic stimulus enough to supply funds for any infrastructure needs without having to play favorites or give exemptions. That’s what the *SPLOST proponents should be working toward, instead of this mishmash of pieced together, political gerrymandering, slush-fund! "

Scott Bradley, a candidate for the United States Senate in 2006 and 2010, holds a Ph.D. in Constitutional Law. He is the founder and chairman of the Constitution Commemoration Foundation, Inc., and is the author of a book and DVD/CD lecture series entitled To Preserve the Nation.

"Toward the preservation of your Government and the permanency of your present happy state, it is requisite . . . that you resist with care the spirit of innovation upon its principles, however specious the pretexts. One method of assault may be to effect in the forms of the Constitution alterations which will impair the energy of the system, and thus to undermine what can not be directly overthrown . . . Liberty itself will find in such a government, with powers properly distributed and adjusted, its surest guardian." (Messages and Papers of the Presidents, George Washington, vol. 1, 210)

"In tendering this homage to the great Author of every public and private good . . . No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the affairs of men, more than the people of the United States. Every step, by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation, seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency." (Messages and Papers of the Presidents, George Washington, "First Inaugural" Address, vol. 1, 44-45)

The Republican Party has a tenuous hold on the conservative movement in America.   At present the only home for the 40 per cent of the electorate that identify themselves as conservative is the Republican Party, but it appears that those who are nominally identified as the "Republican Establishment" are doing all they can to alienate the vast majority of the current base of the Party.

Please watch the following video to understand the over reaching actions of the SOPA and PIPA bill trying to make it's way through the Senate. This bill is overreaching and constrains free speech and makes your internet service provider, search engines, and other websites responsible for the actions of a website that may connect through them in some way.

Georgia Legislative Update

Written by

Welcome our Georgia Legislative Update for the week of January 9, 2012. We applaud the Georgia House and Senate for the passage of the following two bills. Keep your eyes open folks, there are a lot of bad bills coming down the pipe this year. The assembly has a backlog of over 1000 bills right now and you are not going to like a lot of them. Look for more information here next week during the recess!

Coming to a Coweta County School System Near You

On March 15, 2011, Coweta County voters passed a new five year tax, E-SPLOST, by an overwhelming majority; however, it was an underwhelming turnout. Only 6.5% of registered voters turned out for the election and passed the extension with only 3,380 votes cast in favor of the new tax.

Charter Schools Dealt Another Hard Blow

Written by

Yet another blow for Charter Schools in Georgia on Tuesday night. In a standing room only meeting, the Fulton County School Board voted 7-0 to deny the renewal of the charter for Georgia's #1 rated school - The Fulton Science Academy (FSA). This continues a pattern started by other school systems in the state earlier this year. The board seemed to be worried about the backlash and left abruptly after the vote.
